A Cambodian Watermelon Salad

And so we start again.

First it was Instagram, then Are.na, then back to Instagram, then just the Camera roll & Notes app, then nothing, and now this blog, that I created about a month ago and then abandoned at the sight of all the low-level amount of coding I had to learn/copy paste.

Welcome to my BLOG dearest friends and foes, I feel this is literally a blank piece of paper for me from now, cut off from any external influences of social media applications screeching for your attention ( IG literally emailed me saying that I've missed people's posts :0 ).

There will be ramblings, lots of word vomit, but sometimes also sentient conceptual pieces of written work if I manage to put the finger to the button and sit down with an idea or thought for long enough.

Here's a little outtake from today: I am sat next to a big old tree as I write the beginning of this, this FIRST post on my blog. The tree has a parasite tree of some sorts growing on it too. I haven't seen a tree weed like this before, but it does resemble a poison ivy. We're supposedly in a garden, or park, overgrown but spread out with meadows that are green with patches of yellow, dried up grass.

I made myself a double shot of coffee with ice & popcorn Oatly in the grip truck, at around 8am. I messed up twice, always forgetting to flip the switch on the coffee um...maker, as it is a bougie La Marzocco machine which doesn't stop the drip for you.

I talked with Daniel about languages and cracked some jokes. I was bloated for a solid thirty minutes after lunch, stopping at different parts of the castle's hallways and park and stood in a 'about to throw up or have a breakdown' posture.

I got dropped off after work at Hradčanská to buy things for dinner.

Tonight's menu: Cambodian Watermelon Salad Recipe: I don't remember but I remember Tom the chef's dish at the pop-up I helped at and I only hope to emulate it purely by freestyling. I cannot fail though as my Nigella Lawson mum is the consumer.

Walking down to Dejvická, I passed many places I've frequented which hold a lot of memories, namely a coffee machine that someone liked too much for its hot choccy product. Oh and the gelato place with that mustache douchey douche. Can I reclaim my city?

I then had to take a Bolt, as I watched the 116 bus miss me across the roundabout. I kept connecting my headphones to the car's radio, and felt quite bad for ruining the driver's ride. I watched a lady throw her keys down for a man from her flat, they laughed while doing it. I hope they're lovers. I hope the watermelon doesn't taste off.

My ears don't reach for earphones anymore

I don't reach for my phone that much anymore, Spotify nor Instagram, have I gone off my constant need to listen to music? The Discovery playlist has been good to me, that is true. But music itself has become a bit sour in my mind.

I made myself cry listening to Siffre's Cannock Chase, I made myself cry to Fairuz's Wahdon. Those moments were in Berlin, in a dimly-lit hotel room, around the afternoon or night. There isn't that much feeling nestled in the digitized frequencies anymore, but there is a mouldy aftertaste nonetheless.

Hi-Posi - あと何日(1995)

However, with this song that the algorithm gifted me on Youtube (like the thousands of comments that exclaim the same thing), I was in a soft, mouldable state. I forgot what I was doing before I arrived on my bed, but I do remember that I laid down, put on my headphones and closed my eyes. A proper, LONDON THIRD SPACE LISTENING HI-FI SPACE type of situation. It was the first time in a long time that I consciously listened to something and didn't feel overwhelmed. Namely because it is a new song, which in and off itself does induce bittersweet emotions. But the joy and excitement I felt from it, and the need to share it with my loved ones, made me do exactly that the minute the song ended.

I hope listening will come naturally to me one day, as if it never left.

Anyhoo, here is the link to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WK0Lt2pTteo
